Image & text proposal

The three images that I would like to present are of my daughter in different aspects of the game of softball.  One picture of her throwing, one hitting and one sliding incorporating the text of "Softball is Life" or something along those lines.  I want to try and capture and represent the passion she has for the sport in pictures.

Niyati_ Playing with Light

First photo of the traffic light is my favorite of the five.  I love the alternative point of view that it was shot in and the way the rays project out of the street light.  In addition, the three light sources divide the photo following the rule of thirds.  Well Done!

Another great photo. Love the pattern that the shadow is creating in the photo.  It almost looks like it is in back and white, but then you notice that it is actually in color with a little pop of red here and there.  At first I questioned the fact that you didn't crop out the bottom right corner, but after looking at it a little more, i think it was the right decision cause otherwise you would have cut off the model's leg and it also balances out the top right corner.  Good eye.

I love the pattern the third photo creates as well.  I like that just a little light is beaming in on the bottom and the way it's framed makes me think of some type of abstract art.

The next photo is really neat.  I like how you can see the "veins" in the glass and the rays projected on the wall.  It a very soft glow and although it is dark, you are still able to see the detail in the lamp.

I really like the broken glass in the final photo.  i like that you kept the focus on the glass and we see the light reflecting on cracks, but that you can also see the fuzzy orbs of light in the background on the other side of the glass.  I appreciate the fact that the center of the crack isn't exactly centered in the frame, but is lined up with the vanishing point of the background setting.  Very nice.

Niyati - Motion & Sequence

I really enjoyed your photos.  I loved the fact that you place a blurred shot and a still shot in each sequence.   The shot of the kids playing in the fountain was well balanced and your decision to make it black and white was a good decision.  I think, had it been in color, it wold have taken away from the action you were trying to capture. You were still able to maintain the rule of thirds in the first with the fountain on one side and the kids on the other and in the other with the kids being on each side of the frame.  The flowing water was well composed also.  The fact that you were able to capture the blur of the water in the middle of the day takes some skill because I know it was difficult for me to do.  Even though it was a closed frame, you still get a sense of depth because of the shadow created with the rocks.  My favorite of the three had to be the garden scene.  It gives me a sense of tranquility and both shots were well balanced following the rule of thirds. The close up of the figure even has a frame within a frame.  Job well done!
